Considering a career as a Family Day Care Educator?
The decision to become an Excellence in Care Family Day Care Educator is a fulfilling and rewarding career choice. At Excellence in Care we allow you the opportunity to work from home, while providing a flexible, safe and stimulating care environment for children.
As a Family Day Care Educator, you can set your desired hours of work to best meet your needs and the needs of your families. Many Family Day Care Educators are parents themselves, and the ability to work from home with their children provides a happy synergy.
As an Excellence in Care Family Day Care Educator, you have the ability to set your own hourly rate, within provided guidelines. Additionally, you are able to care for up to seven children.
An Educator’s Income is provided in two forms:
- From fees collected directly from parents.
- From government rebates paid from Centrelink.
Depending on your hourly rate and number of children in your care, a part time Excellence in Care Educator could reasonably expect to earn anywhere from $20,000 annually* (these figures are general and are based on an average number of children and minimum hours of work). A Full time Educator has the potential to earn over $50,000 annually.

Educator Requirements
Before you commence as a Family Day Care Educator, we will work with you to ensure that you possess all relevant requirements, certificates and safety equipment, in order to ensure the utmost quality of your care. The screening and certification process to become a Family Day Care Educator is thorough, but Excellence in Care will walk you through all the steps to ensure this process is completed to national standards.
As a Family Day Care Educator you are responsible to ensure that you meet the following requirements:
- Maintain public liability insurance coverage up to $10 million.
- Ensure that an accredited Senior First Aid Certificate, including Asthma and Anaphylaxis management, and Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation must remain current at all times.
- Maintain a positive notice blue card and letter. All adult occupants and regular visitors require a current blue card and letter.
- Hold or actively work towards a Certificate III in Children’s Services
- Obtain Doctor's clearance relating to physical and mental wellbeing.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and in-service training.
- Maintain all Occupational Health and Safety requirements.
- Comply with all Family Day Care Policies and Procedures at all times.
- Follow the correct procedure when treating and reporting incidents.
- Follow all State and Federal legislative requirements.
- Follow and practice correct fire and emergency evacuation procedures, as necessary.

Excellence in Care Support for our Educators
Excellence in Care is committed to ensuring that our Educator’s receive the highest level of support. Our support commences at the initial stage of set up and continues through regular formalised training for our Educators.
We are able to assist in matters such as:
- Guidance, support and on the job training through regular home visits.
- Provision of resource materials, educational books and videos on early child development.
- Arranging regular Playgroups for our Educators and children to attend and interact with other members of the Excellence in Care family.
- Resources such as a toy library and equipment - strollers, high chairs, cots etc.
- Resourcing and support for Educators who undertake further training through TAFE, College and University.
